Abstract
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the clinical success of Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) dental prostheses in terms of biological outcomes, marginal adaptation, patient satisfaction, and comfort.
Methods: This systematic review was conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines and registered on January 11, 2026, in PROSPERO (CRD420261282946). Electronic searches for English-language publications from January 2014 to December 2025 were performed in PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Embase, supplemented by searches in PubMed Central, ScienceDirect, and Wiley Online Library. Two independent reviewers screened the titles, abstracts, and full texts based on predefined eligibility criteria. The methodological quality of the included clinical studies was assessed using the Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool.
Results: The search initially identified 2.258 studies, of which 10 clinical studies involving 229 patients met the inclusion criteria. The included studies generally demonstrated a low-to-moderate risk of bias and reported favorable outcomes for CAD/CAM prostheses in terms of time efficiency, marginal adaptation, and patient-reported comfort compared with conventional techniques.
Conclusion: CAD/CAM technology demonstrates generally favorable clinical outcomes in prosthodontic rehabilitation, particularly in terms of time efficiency, marginal adaptation, and patient-reported outcomes. However, these findings should be interpreted with caution due to the limited number of studies, heterogeneity, and lack of quantitative synthesis. Further high-quality clinical studies are required to strengthen the evidence.
