Abstract
Background
Cleft cases are the most common congenital disorder of orofacial Cleft in the world. Japan is a development country while Indonesia is a developing country that has high cleft incidence and also different lifestyle and habits of society. These conditions will probably affect the prevalence of cleft lip and palate occurrence.
Methode
This study is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional study design. The sample of the study was secondary data from patient's medical records at Unhas Dental Hospital, Celebes Cleft Center Foundation, and Toyama University Hospital from 2018 to 2020. Statistical analysis using chi-square with statistical analyzes performed using SPSS statistic version 20. P <0.05 was considered significant.
Result
There are significant differences in cleft cases between South Sulawesi and Toyama, and the p-value was (0.048) <0.05. otherwise, there are no significant differences of CL, CP, and SMCP type between South Sulawesi and Toyama, the p-value was (0.515) >0.05, but for CLP type, there are significant differences (0,008) <0,05. Related to the proportion of Cleft with and without anomalies respectively between South Sulawesi and Toyama, there are no significant differences with p-value was (0.140) >0.05 and the p-value was (0.050) >0.05.
Discussion
Comparison number of Cleft was founded in South Sulawesi and Toyama is significantly distinct, the most subset of the Cleft is CLP followed CL, CP, and SMCP, although proportion all of them not significant. Cleft without anomaly is higher than Cleft with the anomaly, however it didn't illustrate a significant distinction between South Sulawesi and Toyama.
