Media Kesehatan Masyarakat Indonesia
Aims & Scope
Media Kesehatan Masyarakat Indonesia (MKMI) is a scholarly open access and peer reviewed publication dedicated to advancing public health research and practice with a primary focus on Indonesia. Its scope encompasses a wide range of topics including epidemiology, health promotion, environmental health, occupational safety, health policy, biostatistics, reproductive health, hospital management, nutrition science, and health information systems. The journal aims to publish scientific papers in the form of research reports (original research papers), systematic literature reviews, meta-analyses that contribute to improving public health policies, strategies, and outcomes, ultimately supporting evidence-based decision-making and health improvements across the region and beyond.
Journal History
MKMI was established in 2004 by the Faculty of Public Health at Hasanuddin University. The journal received its serial identification numbers: pISSN 0216-2482 in 2007 and eISSN 2356-4067 in 2014. From Volume 16, Issue 4 (2020), MKMI transitioned to publishing full articles in English starting to facilitate wider and international dissemination. Since March 2017, the average number of articles increased from 9 to 12 due to a higher volume of submissions. However, beginning with Volume 17 (2021), the journal reduced the number of articles per issue to enhance publication quality. In 2026, MKMI migrated to the Digital Commons publishing platform, improving its digital presence and accessibility. Since 2015, MKMI has been nationally accredited (Sinta 2) as a recognized platform for public health research within Indonesia, further strengthening its reputation by being indexed in Scopus in 2023 and upgraded to Sinta 1 accreditation in 2024.
Publishing Frequency
MKMI is published quarterly, with issues released in March, June, September, and December.
