About JPK Wallacea

Jurnal Penelitian Kehutanan Wallacea (JPK Wallacea) is an international, peer-reviewed publication dedicated to advancing knowledge on the conservation and sustainable management of biological resources. The journal emphasizes issues related to conservation strategies, social aspects, and policies affecting biological resources, with a particular focus on the biogeographical region of Wallacea.

While the primary scope is conservation challenges within Wallacea—a region distinguished by its unique biodiversity and high endemism—research from other parts of the world addressing similar themes is also welcome. The journal aims to publish innovative research that contributes to effective conservation practices, policy development, and interdisciplinary approaches supporting sustainable development.

This journal follows the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Journal History

Jurnal Penelitian Kehutanan Wallacea (JPK Wallacea) was established in 2012 with the aim of disseminating scientific research in forestry sciences. Initially, it was a printed journal managed by the Environmental and Forestry Research and Development Institute in Makassar, Indonesia. The journal focused on various aspects of forestry and environmental research, serving as a platform for scholars to share their findings.

In November 2015, the journal expanded its accessibility by launching an online submission system, allowing broader international participation and faster dissemination of research. Since then, the journal has been published biannually, with issues released in March and August through the eJournal platform.

Beginning in 2023, the management of the journal was transferred to the Forest Conservation Study Program at the Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University. This transition marked a strategic shift toward the conservation of biological resources, aligning with the evolving priorities of the institution and the region.

Further enhancing its visibility and reach, in 2025, the journal transitioned to the Digital Commons platform. This move improved the journal’s digital presence, discoverability, and engagement with a global scholarly audience.

Throughout its history, JPK Wallacea has continuously evolved to enhance its quality and scope. The journal is currently indexed by Scopus and accredited as SINTA 1 by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of Indonesia.
