Aims & Scope

Jurnal Penelitian Kehutanan Wallacea (JPK Wallacea) is committed to advancing understanding and promoting sustainable management of biological resources through rigorous scientific research. The journal emphasizes both theoretical and applied studies that offer clear conceptual and methodological contributions to the global body of knowledge in conservation.

The journal focuses on issues related to conservation, including ecological, social, economic, legal, and policy aspects, with a particular emphasis on the biogeographical region of Wallacea. While the primary focus is on conservation challenges within Wallacea—a region renowned for its exceptional biodiversity and high levels of endemism—research addressing similar issues from other parts of the world is also welcomed.

About Wallacea

Wallacea is a strategic biogeographical region situated between the continents of Asia and Australia. Its biodiversity is exceptionally unique and highly specific, characterized by a high level of endemism. Despite its ecological significance, the conservation of biological resources in this region faces threats from urbanization, population growth, and habitat encroachment.

Addressing these challenges requires continuous, multidisciplinary efforts to manage existing biological resources sustainably, ensuring their availability for the welfare of local communities and future generations.

Scope of the Journal

The journal seeks to publish innovative research that contributes to the effective conservation and sustainable utilization of biological resources. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Biodiversity and ecosystem conservation
  • Ecology and biogeography
  • Environmental science and management
  • Conservation planning and policy
  • Social and community-based conservation approaches
  • Legal frameworks and governance
  • Economics of conservation
  • Cultural and anthropological aspects of resource management

Journal Vision

JPK Wallacea aims to serve as a platform for interdisciplinary approaches that support sustainable development and biodiversity preservation. By fostering collaboration among scientists, policymakers, and practitioners, the journal strives to contribute to the global effort to conserve biological resources for current and future generations.
